Mataró Marina Barcelona obtained EMAS certification for environmental management

The nautical base center is at the forefront of its industry in environmental matters 

The nautical base for superyachts Mataró Marina Barcelona has just obtained the certification of environmental quality European EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). The marina is managed by the company Varador 2000, meets the most stringent environmental management systems that exist in the European Union legislation.

This quality certification is another step in our policy of continuous improvement and compliance with environmental rules that the company acquired by obtaining the ISO14001 environmental certification of all facilities, both Arenys de Mar and Mataró. In line with its philosophy of environmental commitment, Varador 2000 also renewed this year that certificate and approvals of quality management and workplace prevention ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001.

EMAS is the part of company management that takes into account environmental criteria in order to lessen their impact on the environment. This system enables organizations to assess and improve their environmental performance through the implementation of an environmental management system; the systematic, periodic and objective evaluation of this system; information to the public and stakeholders and training and active involvement of workers. The main objectives to be achieved by the implementation of this system are to ensure a high level of environmental protection, continuously improve the environmental performance and gain a competitive advantage of these improvements.

Mataró Marina Barcelona has received the EMAS certificate in a ceremony presided over by the Minister for Territory and Sustainability of the Catalan Government, Santi Vila, held at the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona. He picked up the certification Xiqui Mas, CEO of the company. In addition to the marina for superyachts Mataró, this year have also received this certificate for environmental management and audit 22 other businesses and organizations in Catalonia in different fields of activity.

Mataró Marina Barcelona is located on the west pier of the port of Mataró, north of Barcelona city. This nautical base can accommodate up to thirty boats 20-50 feet long in conditions of privacy and exclusivity only. The marina, unique in its kind between Barcelona and France, offers customers mooring services, water, energy, bunkering, concierge, free parking and free wifi for crews, solid waste collection and water, among others.
