Varador 2000 restores the sailing ship Fortuna, the first ship of the King of Spain
Today, the sailing yacht Fortuna , the boat with which the then Prince of Spain competed in the Munich Olympic Games in 1972, was presented to the media. This Dragon-class sailing yacht has been fully restored after decades of neglect at the initiative of Varador 2000 and a group of shipowners, who presented it to the King during the last Barcelona Boat Show.
The presentation took place at Varador 2000’s headquarters in Arenys de Mar. During a press conference, the general manager of Varador 2000 , Xiqui Mas, and David Elías, shipyard engineer, explained to journalists all the work that has been carried out on this emblematic vessel. Journalists were also able to visit the boat and see firsthand the entire restoration process, which affected every part of the vessel: hull, deck, rigging, and rigging. Varador 2000 has employed its best repair and refit specialists to return the Fortuna to its former splendor. After the press presentation, the Fortuna will be deposited at the Olympic and Sports Museum in Barcelona, where it will remain on permanent display at the express wish of the King.
