‘Varador 2000 is my trusted shipyard in the Mediterranean’.

ÀLEX BERNAT, CAPTAIN OF THE SUPERYACHT BUKA
“Varador 2000 is my trusted technical base; they understand our needs here, and it also has an unbeatable location on the Mediterranean coast,” says Àlex Bernat, captain of the superyacht Buka, a 38-meter boat built by Hessen Yachts in 2006 at the Dutch shipyard in Oss.

Bernat is very pleased to be able to carry out maintenance on his boat at Varador 2000, as “here we can work with great flexibility, utilizing a combination of the shipyard’s technical team, official technical services when necessary, and our own crew, who also participate and collaborate on many maintenance projects.”

The Buka’s captain points out that not all shipyards allow this method of work, “which I consider very appropriate, since we can count on the best professionals at every stage of the refitting process.” Bernat believes that Varador 2000 is one of the shipyards that has evolved the most over the last decade in our country: “It has grown, it has a fast pace, excellent professionals, and numerous specialized workshops, which facilitates the rapid resolution of many technical problems.”

Àlex Bernat is a highly experienced captain. He began his sailing career at a very young age, working for the family business founded by his grandfather, Dofí Jets Costa Brava. Between 2002 and 2009, he captained the superyachts Glamour (30 m), Trotter (35 m), D’Aristotelis (28 m), Gloria Teresa (43 m), and Jet Lag (30 m). He subsequently participated actively in the construction of the Tamara RD, a 35-meter yacht produced by Cantieri Navali di Lavagna (CNL) in 2010, which he captained until 2018. He has docked at the Varador 2000 facilities on almost all of these vessels on more than one occasion.

With Buka, she will remain in Varador 2000 for approximately four months, where she will undergo the five-yearly maintenance required by the flag and classification society, in addition to regular annual maintenance. The vessel’s hull and superstructure are made of aluminum, while the interior and exterior design is the work of the prestigious Omega Architects firm. This semi-custom-built superyacht is for private use. Equipped with twin 3,700 hp MTU diesel engines, she reaches a top speed of 31 knots and a range of 1,600 nautical miles.
